Concept for a Sonic RPG mechanic

I had and idea to make a sonic rpg, involving a positioning system(like in Darkest Dungeon where the slot determines usable moves) with 4 slots and 3 characters on the player party

It would work like this, sonic in position one can only execute an attack in position 1 and 2, same thing with knuckles, but tails can reach rank 3 and 4.

The Rhino Tanks in positions 1 and 2 would hit knuckles more often than sonic, and the Stingers would hit 2 to 4.

Sonic's role would be pretty much jumping around from positions and executing attacks, with each attack he gains Momentum Stacks(max 2) that can either protect him from a fatal blow, or give himself a damage boost on his turn as a bonus action, he is sort of a Glass Cannon.

Knuckles would be straight foward hit hard, pretty slow, but he can burrow to attack a enemy and stay untargetable by most common attacks for one turn(it can only be used once per combat).

Tails he is a buffer and ranged attacker, giving his teamates buffs, some heals and attacking the backrow (3-4) but he would be almost usless if pulled into front ranks

What do you think about it ?
