SAGE 2020 - Complete Sonic Quest

Overview

Sonic Quest is a classic Sonic fangame where Sonic, Tails and Knuckles have to stop Dr. Robotnik from destroying the planet with his brand new machine, the Steampunk Egg.

The game takes place on Emerald Island, which is a convex island, hidden underneath Angel Island. Legends say that the Island is the origin of the Echidna Tribe, the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds; it also possesses other powerful gems. Robotnik detects an energy source from this Island and obtains the Steampunk Stone and harnesses its power into his newest machine: The Steampunk Egg. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles catch wind of his plans and decide to go and stop his nefarious plans before he gets a chance to destroy the whole planet!

Yo this seems like a pretty solid game.. unfortunately I didn't get very far into it because at the end of Petal Park 1 I get this error

You might have downloaded it from the attachment, in that case, that isn't the latest version of the game anymore.
I fixed it in the new google drive download link I added on the page.
 
A bug is occurring where my up arrow is constantly being pressed down when I have the game open. When I close the game, my up arrow goes back to normal. Because of this, I can't play the game without being forced to Peel-Out, nor can I use the rest of my computer while the game is up.
 
Hey I beat your game but uhm... this site is so buggy right now that I don't want to write a long message and risk losing it... I had fun playing it, I think it's creative but I did want to tell you about some bugs... One of which is a fairly large bug that, should this game ever be speedran, speedrunners will love.

hmm, that's pretty odd, i'm not completely sure why that would happen
 
I'm a little confused. Are the bonus rings supposed to be all wire-framed out? And I really don't understand how you're supposed to beat the boss of the water area. Almost every time I hit him I get bounced into the water and die.

I am fixing the WWZ boss seeing as i've gotten many comments about it's difficulty
And yes, the special stage rings are supposed to be wireframed, it's because the special stages are not in a very stable state.

just swim under him as Tails, that's what I did lol
 
Other than what I assume are some unfinished bosses—two can't hurt you at all, and the water one is very difficult unless you give up and just hang out at the far right—this is generally a perfectly functional and playable, yet not memorable, classic sonic fangame. The first two zones are basically interchangeable with Emerald Hill Zone, but things get more distinct after that. There's nothing especially wrong here, it just... needs more depth. More to make it unique. More to make me pay attention to each level and acknowledge more about it than where the walls are. You've got the framework, you know how to use it, you have freedom to play... so play.

So I dropped all of my things, got out of a work earlier and then... completed Sonic Quest faster then I was going home.
And yes! Screenshots and everything looks stylish and original, yet with a touch of SEGA Sonics.
So please continue! I believe in you:emoji_thumbsup:
 
Hey man, nice Game, feels very close to the Originals and has a refreshingly forgiving difficulty, but i think i also found 2 very obvious bugs/oversights, which leads me to wonder why i dont read about it here, i will leave you this image with a clarification of mine that this isnt cheated in, and with my discord add if you wanna contact me about it (Jackall4BDN#8759)

I found a way to skip the heads of the acts, what I did was choose knuckles and climb to the highest place of the levels and glide through the level until I reached the goal without any problem, and then I chose tails and did pretty much the same
