You could always ask for help here (if you didn't do that one already). I'm sure there are many talented programmers who would love to see this come to fruition.
It was simply called Sonic RPG. It featured some Freedom Fighters from the Archie Comic Publications version of Sonic the Hedgehog along with some original characters. I think it ran in MS-DOS.

I noticed that when you jumped on top of Spikes (I did some research on the hermit crab-like bot's name), you didn't take damage from the spikes on the back of it's robotic shell.

Archie Comics is a shade of what it once was. The stories it produces nowadays is all the proof that is needed. SEGA knew this and immediately cut ties with Archie Comics. Sonic the Hedgehog & Friends are better off in IDW Publishing's hands.
